E&K Music Group was formed by Eric and Keith Gordon in 2001 to bring cutting edge hip hop and rap to the mainstream through the independent market. Eric and Keith saw the vision of No Limit, Rocafella, G-Unit Records, which did not depend on the majors to manipulate the creative control of their artists, but to encourage and help develop a potential Grammy nominated and or platinum artist. Eric and Keith Gordon are twin brothers and form the highly acclaimed underground super group Mac & A.K. As artists, Mac & A.K. were signed to Tommy Boy Records; an independent/major label distributed by Warner Bros. in 1995. Throughout the experience with Tommy Boy Records, Eric and Keith Gordon felt as artist they did not receive adequate guidance and creative control over their project. Consequently, Eric and Keith decided to remove Mac & A.K. from the Tommy Boy roster in 1998 to pursue independent freedom. The bay has always been the Mecca of independent hip hop and rap labels and continues to hold that title to date. From E-40 to Too Short, the bay has never waited for the major labels in other major cities to open the door for them and E&K Music Group has positioned itself to be a leader in the independent market; bringing cutting edge music and business saavy to the world. Eric Gordon is the co-CEO and founder of E&K Music Group. Eric brings 15 years of experience with recording and producing for many of the nation’s hottest hip hop and rap acts. Eric has produced for E-40, Above the Law, Keyshia Cole, Dem Hood Stars, Young Noble from Tupac’s Outlaws, JT the Bigga Figga, Mr Kee, and San Quinn just to name a few. His unique talent of creating hot music has made him a visionary in the bay area hip hop scene and soon to be the world. Keith Gordon, the other co-CEO and partner running E&K Music Group was brought into the music business through his twin brother Eric Gordon. While dealing with some unsavory characters on an indy label, Eric decided he didn’t want to be tied down to a shady contract and continue doing business with his former label. Already a veteran in the rap game, Eric asked Keith to join him and they formed the legendary group Mac (Eric Gordon) and A.K. (Keith Gordon). They would go on to sign with Tommy Boy Records and release three highly acclaimed albums in an 8 year period. West Bound (For Riders Only) was the first album released in 1996 under a partnership with Duane Dotson and Street Life Entertainment. This project was so well received, it is still selling units in America and as far away as Japan. The second release and first true E&K Music Group project, was a Mac and A.K. release titled Money Rhyme$ , which was released in 2002. This album had appearances by E-40, Above The Law, and Mac Mall. This album solidified E&K Music Group, as well as made Mac & A.K. bay area hip and rap legends. The follow up to the Mac & A.K. release in 2004, was Hustle Music Vol. 1, which is still a hot seller globally and in the bay. With E&K Music Group, Eric and Keith Gordon has been able to do what true independent artist do and that is have creative control over music and usher in ideas that are affective in reaching their core audience. Not waiting on a major label to sign and bring them to their fans, but employing innovative ways to promote and distribute their music with stunning impact. E&K Music Group has publishing with BMI, under the name Gordon Bros Music Publishing and intends to take the bay area hip hop and rap market to new heights in 2007.
